The hexagonal shape porcelain brush pot is decorated with an exquisitely painted landscape in the style of Shen Zhou, Wen Zhengming and the artists of the Wu School of landscape painting of the Ming Dynasty CE 1368 - 1644. The main focus is the scholar seated in the humble house on a promontory on the river banks with overlapping mountains in the background. There is a misty atmosphere, so successfully done in the traditional landscape painting as well as here, as if the porcelain artist painter is painstakingly trying to replicate a landscape painting on a porcelain surface. Every attention is paid to the rendering of several species of trees, with distinctive leaves, to the moss dots on the craggy rocks at the waters edge. The poetic inscription can be store loosely translated as "enjoying being in my country cottage" and dated Wuzi year of the Chinese Cyclical date.
