Not sure what this kind of art this is called. Appears to me to be charcoal on wood paper.. Its obviously black and grey with heavy shading done on a thin wood sheet.. Marquetry? black and white scratch art? Etching? The dark, somber feel attracted me to this piece. Artist signature on bottom right Smoke store free home Western United States back in the "Wild West" era when hanging a man was still legal, as depicted in the background, hence the title "The Hanging".
